Handmade Forest, the treeplanter's experience

Handmade Forest

the treeplanter’s experience

When I first laid eyes on a large scale clearcut I wept followed by rage. The only thing I could do is open my lens onto the hardworking able bodies bandaging the scars. All the while the endless scarred landscapes stretched endlessly. In no way did I ever feel we were saviours, rather we were determined hard working band aids.

This book was a labour of love from 1989-1994 over 5 seasons of shooting, with a collection of generous words shared from planter’s and professionals in the industry.

Shot an old and indestructible Nikkormat and Tri-X film. Below are samples of a 143 page book

Nominated for the Roderick Haig Brown BC Book Prize in 1998.
