Tasha and Jesse, Craigdarroch Castle, Victoria BC

From classic imagery in a classic Castle to the surreal. A creative and wonderful wedding day it was with the lovely Tasha and soulful Jesse! Jesse has family lineage with the Dunsmir family therefor he and Tasha had privileged access to otherwise roped off areas. Although we were not to touch anything except the piano and pool table. Slightly limited but nevertheless a visual treat! Jesse’s hat made for some wonderful shapes and themes. And what a relief it was to have beautiful overcast skies on what is normally the brightest time of year! Tasha and Jesse, a pleasure it was to photograph you and your kind families!

I can still here Joys’ laughter linger, so rich and soulful! A heartfelt ceremony in the sweet little chapel at St. Annes’ is always visually stimulating. Supportive families and friends by the numbers surround them! The sun far too intense for the mid-part of the day shoot so Joy and Chris happily agreed to doing our photo session in China Town. Dieu merci. What a treat that was!!! How grateful I am to have fabulous couples like Joy and Chris, so grateful!

Brian and Jake, Empress Hotel

A fabulous group of family and friends met at the Empress Hotel on November 27 to celebrate Brian and Jake’s heartfelt wedding. They came from all over the US and many from Alaska. I very much enjoyed the Alaskan humor and “joie de vivre”! We lasted but 15 minutes at the waters’ edge where the icy winds and cool temperatures hurried us back to the Hotel for soothing drinks. Could not have asked for a more casual, elegant and layed back wedding to cap off my year of memorable weddings!

Siobhan and Ian, Starling Lane Winery, BC

Starling Lane Winery is a magical place for weddings where you get a sense you’re in a summer wedding magazine article with bees buzzing, gorgeous backgrounds and kids are free to roam and play! Once again the flowers were from the lovely Vanessa and Jenny from Verbena Flowers. The incredible make up was done by Melanie Baird. If I could freeze the magic light at the 7-8 o’clock hour I would! What I loved about Siobhan and Ian is they wanted to meet privately (well almost) first before the wedding on the blue bridge. Thank goodness for some shade cover! How blessed I am with magnificent couples!

Caroline + Ryan, Villa Marco Polo Inn, Victoria, BC

Caroline and Ryan chose Villa Marco Polo Inn for their wedding ceremony and the Brentwood Bay Resort for the reception. Ryan and his friends got ready at the classic Empress Hotel and Caroline at Brentwood Bay Resort. A tad bit of driving here and there but was lucky with parking spots. And the very talented Jenny from Pacific Make Up Group did the makeup. The sun this summer is relentless, sharp as a butchers’ knife. Not a cloud of forgiveness… and I’m certainly not a fan of flash if I can avoid it. Available light is simply beautiful on it’s own. So in post I rekindled with the image wash technique to ease some of the hot spots and it’s been fun! Just a few images here and there to add some visual variety doesn’t hurt. Caroline and Ryan were a pleasure to photograph, always giggling and playful!

Johnny called late November to ask if I were to photograph his wedding. At first I was hesitant to accept any more work but his sweet English accent and charm got the better of me. Then later meeting Isabelle sealed the deal for me. Mostly they wanted images of their ceremony and cocktail. They married at the Empress Hotel at 4:30pm. The couple were wonderfully animated as were their guests! I can still here the laughter in the room.
