I chose these images because at times they were unusual almost border line eerie, other times mysterious and ambiguous, and at times just plain romantic. Looking forward to year 2012 and what this exciting year will bring! Again, with much gratitude to all the couples of 2011 who made photography so much fun!

Race Rocks, Jan 2012

Race Rocks, a tiny and special Island where it holds BC’s 2nd oldest lighthouse. The Island no bigger then 2 hectares in size holds my sweet friend Mike, a few Elephant Seals and countless birds that come and go. The neighboring rock islands hosts Stellar Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers and the list goes on… Such a privilege it is to witness these blubbery friends at such close range! The little I do know is that the baby pup “Squall” named by Mike was born last Saturday in the middle of a storm. I arrived a few days after and watched it grow (I say “it” as I don’t know it’s gender) from a wet shivering somewhat weak looking pup to a strong assertive one within a few short days! Despite the bitter cold and pushing winds it grew stronger each day. It carries its name well.
Mystery is the Papa and defends his Bertha and Squall well. He will tolerate us at a certain distance but for only so long before he pushes his weight around! I very much enjoyed being happily stranded on Race Rocks with Mike for a full 5 days witnessing time, winds and storm in a very different way. Below are one or two images chosen from each wedding of 2011. I chose these images for either their sense of humour, their heartfelt moment, their beauty and or uniqueness. Thanking each and every one of you for your trust in my lens. Many bring props, conjure up themes and playfulness while other couples work naturally with the elements exposed to them – all of which makes for both creative and spontaneous images. It is a privilege and honour to photograph so many amazing heartfelt couples as well as their supportive families and friends. A heartfelt thank you!

I just LOVE my job for all the fabulous people I’ve met this year including two fabulous ladies from Australia whom eloped and chose Brentwood Bay Resort to spend their wedding weekend. It did not matter where on the premises nor did they fuss about the signing table. Their sense of humour reflected their choice of shoes and their flexibility for random locations throughout Saanichton. Way fun!

Dominic and David chose Hatley Castle to be married at and the colors this time of year are stunning! The rain did not phase their spirits one bit! Their story is a heartfelt one and the emotions ran high throughout the day amongst family and friends whom came from many parts of the US. I look forward to visiting you in San Fransisco!

Jennifer and Neil chose the lovely Sea Cider Farm to be married at. Prior to the ceremony we had one and half hours to roam the area and came across the cabbage patch. The light was simply magic and a visual treat! If I had it my way, I would lock the sun and clouds into a permanent Autumn setting with a warm summer late afternoon heat. Ah……

Jennifer and Geoff were married at the lovely Middle Beach Lodge, Tofino on what was rumored to be the warmest day recorded in years! Most appropriate for the tribal party following into the night accompanied by the fabulous musician Shane Philip. A fabulous idea to get your friends and family out of their formal wear into fine loin clothes and facial paint. My tribal name was Trigger fish. So much fun it was!

Genevìeve and Jeff chose to marry in an intimate setting behind their parents backyard. After their heartfelt ceremony we strolled around the Saanich farmlands where the landscape is just simply breath taking followed by a quick pit stop in Chinatown.
