Helene has spent twenty years behind a camera, mapping out her fascination with people and their environs. Her timing and curiosity invite viewers to visit inside the images. Her work has been exhibited alongside Annie Liebovitz, Contact Press Image, Alberto Korda, and many others.

Her first book, Handmade Forest: The Tree-planters Experience, was a finalist in the 1998 BC Book Prize. Her upcoming book, Beyond the White Picket Fence, is a black & white photo essay that explores and redefines the image of what we consider the nuclear family.
